Basilashvili’s harsh statement after being involved in a network of fixes

Last Tuesday, German television ZDF published information that involved two current Top 40 tennis players in cases of match-fixing.

One of them is Nikoloz Basilashvili (25th), which this Thursday has defended itself with a strong statement in which it states that “these accusations are baseless and i reject them in the strongest possible way“.

The Georgian makes it clear that “I will not accept that my name and reputation are seriously damaged by baseless and absurd accusations. Therefore, I demand that these accusations and lies cease immediately and that the public, through which the public is informed, through the media, that I totally and utterly deny all of these absurd accusations.”

“I have empowered a German law firm to protect my interests and act in every way possible to combat this damaging misinformation,” he concludes.
