Den Blue Bats Schwechat ran out of breath at the end.
With two victories over the Hard Bulls, the Schwechaters would have been among the top six teams in the Baseball Bundesliga. In the end, the Vorarlbergers were ahead with 5: 4 and 6: 5. The Blue Bats only messed up both games in the last inning. “The players got angry with themselves afterwards,” said club chairman Phil Weller after the tight decisions.
The club is already in the playoffs. The primary goal is to survive the first round. A possible opponent are the Vienna Wanderers. “The players now know that every inning is important and that you have to perform in all nine innings.”
The Braustadt team will continue in the regular season on Sunday. The Bats meet the Wanderers away. In order to stay in front of the Viennese in the East division, a victory is needed.
