Carlos Alcaraz struggled, but he won. For his entry into the running in this ATP 500 in Hamburg, the Murcian had all the trouble in the world to get rid of the local Nicola Kuhn. In this NextGen shock, the two men offered a very good match to the public. Alcaraz finally won in three sets after racing behind (3-6, 6-1, 7-6).
Hit in the right thigh after winning the first act, Kuhn, a former student of Juan Carlos Ferrero, disappeared in the second act, before resisting in the decisive round. Often hanging on his commitments, he held on and even sent Alcaraz into the ropes a few times.

A hell of a fight
There was more or less the same tennis in both men, a perfect summary of the Ferrero paw. A forehand that punches, quite phenomenal ground coverage and a willingness to crunch everything. It was all good for the show.
It all finally came down to the deciding game in the last set. In this little game, it was the better ranked of the two who won with a score of 7 points to 3.
