Bergwijn started his career at Ajax, but in 2011 he moved to rivals PSV Eindhoven, with whom he went on to win three titles. Two years ago, he left for Tottenham, but did not make an impact.
Since January 2020, he has played 83 games for the London team and scored eight goals. Last year, the Dutch representative played for Tottenham in the English league only twice in the starting line-up.
Reigning Dutch champions Ajax brought in Bergwijn two days after selling striker Sébastien Haller to Dortmund. He received 31 million euros for being the top scorer of the last year’s top competition.
