Zipaquirá will be the alternate venue for the ‘Bolivarian Games 2022’, in the discipline of badminton

The ‘Bolivarian Games 2022’ are given after the idea of ​​celebrating the regional games, with characteristics similar to the Olympic competitions. For this opportunity they are the first event of the Olympic cycle facing the ‘Olympic Games, Paris 2024’.

Thanks to the management carried out by the Municipal Institute of Culture, Recreation and Sports of Zipaquirá (IMCRDZ), the Colombian Olympic Committee chose the ‘Capital Salinera de Colombia’ as the alternate venue for the 2022 Bolivarian Games, in the discipline of Badminton, which will be played on the sports stage ‘Salt Arena Colosseum, on June 25, 26, 27, 28 and 29according to the guidelines proposed by the organization of the Valledupar 2022 Bolivarian Games and the South American Badminton Confederation.

Meeting between Ciro Solano (President of the Colombian Olympic Committee), Wilson García Fajardo (Municipal Mayor of Zipaquirá), Freddy Espinoza (Manager of the Municipal Institute of the Institute of Culture, Recreation and Sports of Zipaquirá) and members in charge of the ‘Bolivarian Games 2022 ‘, at the Arena de Sal Coliseum.

For the development of these competitions, the National Olympic Committees (NOCs) and their respective federations registered 50 players, from the countries of: Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, El Salvador, Panama, Peru, Dominican Republic and Venezuela, to thus compete for the six gold medals destined for this sport of racket and shuttlecock, which will have competitions in the modalities of: singles ladies and men, doubles ladies and men, and mixed doubles and mixed teams. On a court 13.4 meters long x 5.18 meters wide for singles, and 13.4 meters long x 6.1 meters wide for doubles matches, separated by a net or mesh, to face each other.

*The entrance to the stages during the Bolivarian Games will have no cost.
