Young people learn martial arts in the mosque in Kiel-Gaarden

A martial arts club in a mosque could raise concerns. With judo and kickboxing, however, a new club in Kiel-Gaarden wants to do preventive work. Because it’s about more than just sport.

The farm. “We’re not trying to force belief on anyone. Anyone can come, no matter what religion they have or whether they don’t believe in anything at all.” Hakan Özcücük is concerned about the young generation in the Gaarden district for other reasons. According to him, the smartphone is the most important contact for many children and young people, and the older ones are at risk of slipping into uncomfortable milieus and life patterns, also because of the lack of real social encounters.
