A Las Vegas court has dismissed a rape lawsuit against soccer striker Cristiano Ronaldo, 37. In her 42-page ruling, Judge Jennifer Dorsey accused the plaintiff’s attorneys of “blatant evasion of due process”. “Hacked, confidential documents” were repeatedly used. As a result, the plaintiff loses the opportunity “to pursue this case further,” it said.
Former US model Kathryn Mayorga from Nevada had claimed Ronaldo raped her in a hotel room in 2009. The five-time world footballer always rejected the allegations and asserted that the sex was consensual. Criminal proceedings were already discontinued in 2019 because the public prosecutor classified a conviction as unlikely. Now the civil situation is also obsolete.
