Ulan Bator Grand Slam, gold for Israeli Hershko

Grand Slam of judo in Ulan Bator, third and final day in the land of the great warriors marked by the last five gold medals assigned to heavyweights, with particularly good and spectacular women.

Category women -78 kg: on the shields the Japanese Mami UMEKI, world champion 2015, gold after the success with the uchi-mata technique aimed at ippon, against the Israeli LANIR.

For her this is the ninth first place in the World Judo Tour.

Among the women +78 kg, above all the Israeli Raz HERSHKO, who defeats the Mongolian Adiyasuren AMARSAIKHAN, silver for ippon.

The medals were awarded by Badmaanyambuu Bat-Erdene, a member of the Mongolian parliament.

“Any competition where we have a lot of screaming crowds – says the winner – there is more adrenaline, more fun, you want to fight more, it’s fun”.

Among men -90 kg, above all Mikhail IGOLNIKOV, who competes under the flag of the Federation and defeats Uzbek BOBONOV in the final act for waza-ari aimed at ippon.

Bronze for the Dutch Noel VAN T END and the Kazakh Didar KHAMZA.

Men category -100 kg: the young Matvey KANIKOVSKIY takes care of the competition, executioner in the final (for waza-ari) of the Lusitanian Jorge FONSECA, reigning world champion.

Third place for the Dutch Michel KORREL and the Israeli Peter PALTCHIK.

To close, men +100 kg: here Inal TASOEV wins, who defeats the Dutch MEYER.

Bronze medal for the Kazakh ORAZBAYEV and the Japanese OGAWA.

The popularity of judo in Mongolia has grown tremendously, largely thanks to recent successes, and the young heavyweights were here to show that the future will continue to be bright.
