AS Roma get Nemanja Matic from Manchester United for free. Matic is not only expected to be a mainstay on the field, but also mentally guide the young players!
Nemanja Matic finally got AS Roma. The Serbian international is out of contract at Manchester United this summer and is on a free transfer.
Nemanja Matic has finally reunited with Jose Mourinho. Three times already, the player-coach duo was together at three different clubs (previously at MU and at Chelsea).
Nemanja Matic is 33 years old. Unfortunately, in the last two seasons with the Red Devils, Matic has often become a bench warmer because he has lost to Fred and Scott McTominay.
Even so, Matic came to AS Roma in tip-top shape. It is believed that he will be Mourinho’s first choice next season.

Reporting from the official website of the AS Roma club, Nemanja Matic is expected to be an additional power in the midfield. Matic is known to be tough in duels and is able to keep the ball flowing from back to front.
“We are happy to announce his arrival. I believe this is the starting point for Roma to become even stronger next season,” said AS Roma General Manager, Tiago Pinto.
Tiago added that the arrival of Nemanja Matic was not only for additional energy on the field. Matic is also expected to be able to lift the mentality of the young players of the Capital City!
“Nemanja Matic came to Rome not only to play on the pitch, but his long experience playing in the Premier League will bring new focus and add to the mentality of the team.”
AS Roma have several young players in midfield such as Ebrima Darboe (21 years), Filippo Tripi (20 years), and Edoardo Bove (20 years).
