The swan is finishing second in the qualifying tournament in Perugia

Ernests Gulbis, the first racket in Latvian men’s tennis, did not win the first round of the Perugia Challenger tournament on Sunday.

Gulbis, who ranks 384th in the ATP rankings and was ranked eighth in the qualifiers, was 6-7 (6: 8), 0-4 against neutral athlete Andrejs Čepeļevs (ATP 462) in the first qualifying round and withdrew in the second set.

Without sweating the first round of the qualification, Gulbis did not reach the ATP ranking points.

He did not qualify for the Forli Challenger this week, but was the “lucky loser” in the main event. True, he failed to fight beyond the first round.

At the ATP level, Latvians have not participated in the main tournaments since the summer of last year. He has won 15 of 27 games this season.
