All-Star outfielder Mike Trout singled in his first at-bat in the first inning of Monday’s game between the Los Angeles Angels and the Boston Red Sox. concluding with a chain of 26 turns without firing a hitthe longest of his MLB career
Trout found a four-seam fastball in the strike zone, connecting the ball to left field, to credit the unstoppable against the starter of the Boston team, Michael Wacha.
With this hit, the three-time winner of the Most Valuable Player award in the American League and for many the best player in baseball today, ended the worst record of his stay in the Majors with a balance of 26-0while he reached the bases three times, two of them by base on balls and was hit on one occasion.
Trout failed to get a hit in seven straight gamesin which he received nine strikeouts and had just one run scored, thus marking a stage in which the Angels have lost in 11 straight games.
In that period, Trout had an on-base percentage and a slugging percentage of just .103, far from the lethal hitter who is usually a 10-time Major League All-Star.
Before this unusual performance, Trout had a batting average of .320 with 13 home runs, 28 RBIs. and 37 runs scored, with a solid candidacy to once again win the Most Valuable Player award in the smallest of the circuits.
