Robert Lewandowski is pushing for an immediate departure from Munich. “My story at FC Bayern is over. I can’t imagine another good cooperation,” said the forward at a press conference of the Polish national team on Monday.

In a podcast by the Polish provider “OnetSport”, the world footballer confirmed his desire to change and said: “I want more emotions in my life.” Poland’s national team captain and his advisor Pini Zahavi recently said that Bayern Munich was over for Lewandowski. The attacker is said to be aiming for a move to FC Barcelona.
Lewandowski once again drew attention to what he saw as a lack of appreciation from those responsible for Bayern. “They didn’t want to listen to me to the end. Something in me is extinguished. And it’s impossible to ignore. Even if you want to be professional, you can’t make amends,” said the 33-year-old. He strives to “find a solution for both sides”.
It is more than questionable whether he will find open ears in the Munich executive floor. Board boss Oliver Kahn and President Herbert Heiner had recently given a clear rejection of a change. Honorary President Uli Hoeneß also said on Monday that he assumed Lewandowski would stay. “I think the new team is being worked on very intensively, and if everything comes up that you presented to me this week, then I see a good chance that we will have an attractive team next year – with Robert Lewandowski,” said the 70-year-old TV station Sport1.

The former club president advocated urging the star striker to fulfill his contract, which runs until June 30, 2023, if there is no replacement for the Bundesliga record scorer. “And then you have to see whether he’ll go on a free transfer next year or maybe even be extended again, nobody knows that,” said Hoeneß.

With regard to a departure, Hoeneß now confirmed that “nothing” had happened behind the scenes. “He’s the way he’s always been and sees that his interests are met. Even if everything sounds like it from a club point of view, Lewandowski does not expect a change ban this summer. “For what reason? What kind of player wants to come to Bayern when he knows that something like this could happen to him?” asked the Pole in the podcast. He referred to the “eight beautiful years” he had in the Bavarian capital since moving from Borussia Dortmund in 2014. But that time is now over, as he made clear again: “I just want to leave Bayern. Loyalty and respect are more important than work.”
Lewandowski himself left open whether the record champion’s alleged interest in Erling Haaland played a role in his anger. Consultant Zahavi had recently confirmed this to “Bild”. “Robert knew all along that Bayern wanted to replace him with Haaland. Erling’s father even confirmed it to him.” The Norwegian ultimately decided to move to Manchester City.
