The Mavs’ big trade, a sign for the future of Frank Ntilikina in Dallas?

Soon to be a free agent, Frank Ntilikina obviously had to follow Dallas’ huge move last night. However, the decision of the Texas franchise could well have a significant impact on the rest of the career of the Frenchman, who would like to stay put.

Author of a successful end to the campaign, Frank Ntilikina is preparing for a pivotal summer in his career. Disappeared from the rotation of the Mavs for long weeks, he returned at the best of times and notably shone in defense against the Suns, in the conference semi-finals. However, his contract expires in a few days… While waiting to have more certainty about his future, the Olympic vice-champion is having a good time and was seen at the Summer Jam in New York:

However, even if he is on vacation, the French Prince has certainly learned the big news of the night in Texas: the arrival of Christian Wood. The interior of the Rockets landed in a trade involving five players in totaland will become the new privileged partner of the superstar Luka Doncic in attack. At the same time, it certainly also means that Rudy Gobert is no longer an option for the franchise at all.

Or, si an audience darling had to pack up much to the chagrin of fans, this move could well prove beneficial for the Frenchy. Indeed, this means that the Mavs have freed up several places in the roster for the coming season, and they will now have to be filled. Rather than having to fight for the last remaining position, he will have a better chance of being extended because he could help out in several positions, thus resting the incumbents:

Frank Ntilikina retained by Dallas for continuity?

I think we should keep Josh Green and/or Frank Ntilikina. We just need one of these two guys to do a good job to blow Reggie Bullock.

Used all over the place by Jason Kidd, who took advantage of his defensive versatility against Phoenix, Franky Smokes has the advantage of being familiar with the game systems on site. Dallas has ambition for next year and bringing in too many new elements could well derail the squad’s good dynamic. Renewing certain quality role players would therefore make sense, especially those who convinced in the playoffs.

With several spots to fill in the rotation, Frank Ntilikina could well be retained by the Mavs since he already knows the house. Be careful though, it is not excluded that the franchise will do some XXL shopping this summer, which could push it towards the exit.
