“That’s the scariest thing about the Warriors”

Now champions, the Warriors will celebrate this title over the next few days, before a well-deserved rest. But count on Steve Kerr’s men to come back next year, to try to defend their property. With Steph Curry and company, it’s a largely achievable goal, even more so when you know the true potential of this roster.

While the Warriors will savor their championship title very quickly, especially when returning to California, some are already looking to the future. After this well-deserved ring, will the Dubs be able to defend this title next season? Everything suggests yes, with the vast majority of the roster expected to return. Unsurprisingly, and with a Steph Curry at the top, it makes sense for Golden State to go for the ring.

However, owner Joe Lacob is pretty clear: he wants to be a title contender for all years to come. Even after Curry’s decline, which we hope will happen as late as possible, the Warriors want to continue to squat the top of this Western Conference. Playable ? Probably yes, at least if the young players manage to live up to expectations.

The future already assured with the Dubs?

Not only do the Dubs manage to recruit stars, but above all they manage to draft some. Curry is proof of that, as is Draymond Green. In the last issue of Get Up, Charles Barkley therefore wanted to recall that the future already seems assured at Golden State for the next few seasons. In question ? Jonathan Kuminga, or even James Wiseman, without even talking of course about Jordan Poole, so precious on this exercise.

The scary thing about the Warriors is that they could also win with Jonathan Kuminga, James Wiseman. They could still be dangerous for the next 5 years.

Barkley is obviously not wrong, even if the questions are still quite numerous. Kuminga? Set back in recent weeks, but the young player continues to learn. There is no doubt that next season he should take minutes and have a fairly important role off the bench. But for the little he has shown during this campaign, Kuminga is certainly capable of doing a lot of damage.

For Wiseman on the other hand, it is yet another subject. The pivot has had a string of injuries for a few months, and was even due to return this season. Unfortunately, a relapse got the better of him, causing him to return to the infirmary. The good news ? It should be delivered during the summer, and perhaps in time for the Summer League. The opportunity for the young player to regain some confidence, he who needs it.

While the Warriors are obviously title contenders, they already have what it takes to go on for the next 5 years, depending on the young players. It’s promising for this team, even if we have to be careful with injuries. We will watch the next campaign carefully.
