With the victory, Eduardo Domínguez’s team reached four points and leads with Gimnasia (LP), Estudiantes (LP) and Newell’s. Talleres, who would have been left alone at the top if he won, has three.

Within an even first half, Independiente took advantage through opportunism and luck, although the result that best represented what happened on the field of play was a draw.

It was at 26m, when at the exit of a corner Lucas Romero received without a mark on the edge of the area, he took a right hand that grazed Enzo Díaz, dislodged Herrera and became 1-0.

Until then, both had shared the intention of being neat in circulation and patient in the search for space, but also inaccuracies. In Independiente, Leandro Fernández and Poblete were good in the relays and the “T”, with some Godoy and little Esquivel, looked especially for the right sector of their attack, where Rodríguez and Insaurralde left gaps.

Romero had had a clear chance before the goal with a shot taken by a Talleres defender on the line, and the visitor had responded with a nice shot from Benavídez, just wide.

The Cordovan team came out determined towards the tie and in the first five minutes of the complement they generated two clear chances, both through Santos: in the first he headed and Barreto took it out on the line with Álvarez already defeated; and in the second he received from Esquivel inside the area but his shot went wide.

The “Rojo”, stopped early from counterattack, responded with a good projection from Rodríguez, who received from Cazares and took a somewhat past center that Benegas could not connect. The ball was still in the center of the area and Soñora and Leandro Fernández were bothered at the moment of defining.

The subsequent development was accentuating the superiority of the “T” from the possession, the individual growth of Esquivel and the continuous projections from the right by Benavídez, who had two clean chances for the tie. His first shot went just over the top and the second deserved a barbaric save by Álvarez when the ball went into his right post.

The local only responded after 25, with a counter and shot from Togni, who was admitted, and Herrera managed to take the corner.

After this play, the intensity of Talleres diminished, frustrated for not achieving what he deserved, and “Rojo” ordered himself back to wait for the passage of time and celebrate his first victory.

On the next date, the third, Independiente will visit Argentinos Juniors (Thursday from 7 pm) and Talleres will receive Newell’s Old Boys in Córdoba (Tuesday from 7 pm).
