Table tennis continues its way at the Delmi

After the Youth Contender, today the South American sub-11 and sub-13 will begin.

In table tennis, as one door closes another opens. Last Sunday concluded the Youth Contender tournament for men, an event of the World Table Tennis (WTT) World Tour, which brought together more than 120 players from the under-11, under-13, under-15, under-17 and under-17 categories. -19, and the start of the U-11 and U-13 South American Championship for men and women is scheduled for today, which will allow the ball to continue bouncing in the Delmi sports stadium.
Salta had never managed to host an official WTT competition before, but as a result of the development of multiple factors (infrastructure, hotels and sports development, among others), our city began to be taken into account to organize major tournaments. Last April, the first date of the Seniors National Circuit and also the South American Masters were played.
To this was added the first Youth Contender with Salta as the venue, where the rising stars of table tennis came to win some of the five titles that were at stake and score points for the ranking of each category.
Puerto Rico, Venezuela and Brazil shared the celebrations of the Youth Contender. Among those under 19 years of age, the champion was the Puerto Rican Angel Naranjo, by defeating the Venezuelan César Castillo by 3 to 2; Castillo won the first two sets 11-9 and 12-10, but Naranjo reversed history by winning the next three sets 11-9, 11-5 and 11-5. The Venezuelan Castillo did have a happy ending in the sub-17 category, defeating the Brazilian Hamilton Hato in the final 3-1: 11-9, 8-11, 11-6 and 11-5.
Carlos Josué Ríos, another representative of Venezuela, was the champion in sub-15, beating Brazilian Víctor Seii 3-1 (10-12, 11-7, 11-6 and 12-10) in the final. Meanwhile, the Brazilians took over the titles in under-13 and under-11. Felipe de Melo won 3-1 against Venezuelan Jonathan Vegas (winner in the semifinals of Tomás Soria Castillo from Salta) with partials of 11-7, 7-11, 11-6 and 11-9. Finally, in the U-11s, Flavio de Sousa was crowned, after defeating the Ecuadorian Boris Villavicencio 3-0 (11-4, 12-10 and 11-2).

Table tennis will continue its activity at the Delmi with the start of the South American Championship for the sub-11 and sub-13 categories. At 18.30 the opening ceremony will take place, but there will be games early.
The Salta table tennis players who will be in competition will be Lena Carrizo, Ambar Jándula, Gemma Valerio and Tomás Soria Castillo. The competition will last until next Sunday. As it happened in the previous contests, the entrance to the Delmi will be free and gratuitous.
