Shinji Hosokawa (Shinji Hosagawa, Nobuji Hosokawaborn on January 2, 1960 in Ichinomiya, Hyogo Prefecture, Japan) It was a retired Japanese judoka who won two Olympic medals in the 1980s.

Hosokawa started judo in junior high school,[1] And won the Japanese high school judo competition in 1977. He attended Tenri University in 1978,[1] And continued his success by winning the collegiate judo world championship in 1979 and 1980.

After graduating from Tenri University, he started teaching at a school in Nara Prefecture in 1982. He was selected to represent the Japanese Olympic Judo team in the -60kg category at the 1984 Summer Olympics, where he beat the future gold medalist to win the gold medal in the rain competition by just 69 seconds.[1] He also won a gold medal. 1985 World Judo Championships, but after retirement to focus on his own teacher work. He restarted his judo career in 1987 with a silver medal. 1987 World Judo Championships and retired after winning a bronze medal in the 1988 Summer Olympics.[2]

Hosokawa, who has served on the Japanese Olympic Committee since April 1997, has coached a number of lightweight judo athletes, most notably three-time gold medalist Tadahiro Nomura, whose father was Hosokawa’s coach in high school.He also teaches Judo Tenri University, for All Japan Judo Federation.
