Member of the Board of Fenerbahçe Beko, Sertaç Komsuoğlu, who won the championship against Anadolu Efes in the ING Basketball Super League, spoke to the club television.
Sertaç Komsuoğlu made the following statements:
“We entered the season with very ambitious goals. Anyway, Fenerbahçe always starts with ambitious goals, but while setting these ambitious goals, we set ambitious goals not only for Fenerbahçe Beko, but also for Fenerbahçe Basketball Branch. Of course, our fans naturally see success in the lines of EuroLeague and Final Four, but we used to say that we need to invest in Fenerbahçe’s future as well. We made many innovations. We renovated the hall. We have made innovations in the hall that will make our fans happy, especially in our offices, down to the smallest detail. We finished our museum, but we needed a trophy for the opening of our museum. We got that trophy, now we can open our museum. It’s completely ready.
We started the season with Fenerbahçe College, one of the most important projects for Fenerbahçe’s future, in TBL2. Fenerbahçe became the champion in two of the three leagues organized by TBF this year. Next year, our two teams will compete in TBL and BSL. We did all of this for the future of Fenerbahçe, but of course, the most important issue for us is to meet the expectations of our fans. Here in the EuroLeague we faced great misfortunes. Also, here again, I don’t want to underline such a beautiful day, but there were some events we didn’t want and we couldn’t make it to the playoffs. We had a great morale collapse as a team. In the moral depression, all our players recovered very quickly, especially with the coordination of our technical team, and we concentrated on the playoffs.
Of course, as managers, we should try to be behind the comfort of our players and the success of our players. On the one hand, we must offer every opportunity for success. I would like to thank the entire board of directors, especially our chairman Ali Koç. Because sometimes morale is very low, our fans are very reactive, we all have low morale. They make our dear Derya Yannier a member of Galatasaray Congress, they are doing something else, in other words, our board of directors, especially our president, stood behind us very well when there was any kind of attack, it motivated us. We took care of our team there and we came here today. After we were eliminated in the EuroLeague, our fans bonded again. We had some very good matches here. We even played matches that they supported very well. We felt our supporters behind us in both Bursa and Darüşşafaka matches. In the away games we went to, we saw that half of the hall was Fenerbahce in those away games after the end of the matches. They never left us alone.
We are very happy. I would like to thank our technical team and players here. They are the main architects of success. I would also like to thank our administrative team. Our administrative team is also the factors that ensure the peace of both our technical team and our players. No matter how good the team is, if our administrative team cannot solve their problems in the right way at the right time, the peace of the team will be lost. It’s the same in every team. I would like to thank Derya Yannier and her team, especially Maurizio. They became the background of success. They worked at an incredible pace all season long. There were no weekends or holidays. They spent their time completely according to the match schedule.
It was a difficult season. It ended very well, we are very happy. I would also like to thank all the sponsors who have been with us in this success. Now we are dealing with very serious budgets, we are trying to find very serious budgets. Our fans want the best teams, the best players, but for this we must have the budget to have it. I would like to thank our sponsors on behalf of our fans. We also need to send a thank you to all of our families. All of them were patient with us. Melih Mahmutoğlu was at the national game in Greece on the day his child was born. He came from there, saw his child and returned to the match. He was abroad in the EuroLeague when his child was one week old. We live such a life. I would like to thank everyone’s family, especially my own family, with a trophy.
We are very happy. We have two trophies. One is BSL and one is TBL trophy. We know the demands and wishes of our fans. When we lost to Efes in the playoff final last year, we said that we underlined something very important: our Turkish team will be much stronger, we said that we will invest in our Turkish team. This year, too, we had some transfers in which we strengthened our Turkish staff. Thanks to the harmony of these friends, we have become much stronger. Next year, we will achieve very serious successes with certain touches to our EuroLeague squad.”
