Roland Garros 2022: Daria Kasatkina, Barça heart in a fist

HBarely a year ago, the Kosmos company, chaired by the FC Barcelona footballer, Gerard Piqu, and organizer of the Davis Cup, among other events, announced the opening of a player representation company.

Led by Galo Blanco, it had Dominic Thiem as its first client. “We are very excited about this project. A lot of people have been working in Kosmos who have been linked to sport for many years and who are specialized in different areas,” said Piqu.

Currently the list of players captured by Kosmpos has been extended to six. In addition to Thiem, there are promises such as Sara Beljek, Bruno Kuzuhara, Paola Piera and Fabio Nestola.

The only female professional is Daria Kasatkina, The Russian, who lives between Barcelona and Dubi, has sneaked into the top eight at Roland Garros. She thus equals her best result in a ‘Grand Slam’, which dates back to the French Internationals, in 2018, and Wimbledon, that same campaign.

Dasha trains at the Mollet Tennis Club under the orders of Carlos Martínez and lives a permanent romance with the Ciudad Condal. “I was 12 years old when I visited the city for the first time with my mother. It was love at first sight. I was already a Bara fan and I went straight to the Camp Nou. I soaked up the architecture, I loved the food. I liked the energy that I noticed and decided that whatever happened, I would live here.

The natural tennis player from Toliatti wears her Barça heart on the fist of her racket where the shield of the Catalan team stands out. “I think I was four or five years old. It was already midnight in Russia. We had a three-hour time difference with respect to Europe. My brother was watching a Champions League match at Bara and I woke up to see him. From 2010 to 2016, I have all the shirts. Then, I had a break and I also have the ones from the last seasons,” he says. Her magic triangle was the one formed by Messi, Iniesta and Xavi.

Kasatkina is creative on the court and off it too. She loves to test her wits in the Escape Rooms when she enjoys free time.

Fan of Rafa Nadal

If there is an unconditional fan of Rafael Nadal on the WTA circuit, it is her. He couldn’t hold back the tears after winning the Balearic’s last title in Paris and the same thing happened in January with the twenty-first win at the Australian Open.

One of his goals is to learn Spanish: “I would love to learn, really, because I love the way the language sounds. But it’s not that easy for us because the alphabet is completely different.”
