Rodez: 150 caravans of Travelers welcomed on the grounds of Trauc

They arrived on Sunday evening for a week-long stopover on the way to Saintes-Marie-de-la-mer.

Everything was planned, except that they all arrive at the same time. On Sunday, a long procession of at least 150 caravans took possession of the Trauc land, located halfway between the airport and the city. Coming from Aurillac, these travelers are on their way to the Mediterranean. Their arrival on Sunday, right at the end of the legislative elections, suddenly caused a “heat stroke”, to use the expression used on the side of the town hall. And some traffic jams also on this very busy axis between Rodez and Decazeville.

For the rest, everything went well. “They are expected to leave on June 26 (Sunday). We were prepared for this action of great passage as it is called”, we slip at the town hall. You should know that the management of this large influx of people and vehicles is done in conjunction with the Ministry of the Interior.

In the first place, it was Rodez agglomeration, via its culture, sport and social cohesion unit, which had the management of this dossier: indeed, it was towards the high-traffic area based in Arsac, that the 150 caravans would have had to be directed. But too small, and the procession did not want to be split up, so it was on the grounds of Trauc, between the archery club’s training room and the bowling grounds, that the Travelers were installed. And so it was the city of Rodez that inherited the file.

“The necessary water and electricity has been done. In exchange, they will donate to the CCAS they assured us” we comment on the side of the municipality. No sports competition being planned during the week, this presence should not disturb the sports calendar of the Ruthenians. Last year, the same procession tumbled while the final of the French bowling championship was in full swing. Bowlers still remember!
