Raúl de Tomás will be absent for the matches that will measure Spain against Switzerland and the Czech Republic, corresponding to the third and fourth days of the League of Nations. The Espanyol striker had to leave the La Roja concentration this Thursday due to an infection in the upper respiratory tract with a feverish process, as reported by the national team, which clarifies that the tests that have been carried out on the Madrid footballer have ruled out a positive for covid-19.

The striker, who played 20 minutes in the match played by the Spanish team against Portugal last week at the Benito Villamarín, where he replaced Álvaro Morata, and started three days later in Prague, being relieved in the second half by the striker of Juventus, is not in a position to train, so he will not be able to be available this Thursday for the match against Switzerland that will be played at the Stade de Genève, nor will he be able to participate in the match scheduled for Sunday against the Czech Republic at La Rosaleda, both vital for the luck of the Spanish team in this third edition of the League of Nations.

Luck is not on Raúl de Tomás’ side in his efforts to earn a place on Luis Enrique’s list for the World Cup in Qatar. The attacker made his international debut last November, when Luis Enrique summoned him to cover Ansu Fati’s injury absence for the last two qualifying matches for the World Cup to be played between the 21 November and December 18 this year. In both cases, against Greece in Athens and against Sweden in Seville, he started and left a good feeling. Luis Enrique recruited him again for the friendlies scheduled in March against Albania and Iceland, but a problem in his right shoulder meant that he had to leave that concentration.

A situation that has been repeated in Geneva and that leaves Luis Enrique with 23 players for the two lawsuits that remain this week for the Spanish team. It must be remembered that of the 25 initially mentioned by the coach, Thiago already fell last week due to muscle problems that the Liverpool midfielder had been carrying since the last day of the Premier League.

The loss of Raúl de Tomás has caused Ansu Fati to enter the squad for the match against Switzerland, although Luis Enrique recalled on Wednesday that “there is no rush” with the young Barça attacker, who has not worn the national jacket since did it on October 12, 2020 in a match against Ukraine played in kyiv.
