The first portfolio that has already been designated is that of Foreign Relations, which will be represented by Álvaro Leyva Durán, who will hold that position.

Since this name became known, there is expectation for the next appointments that the elected president could make in the other portfolios. One of them is that of the Ministry of Sports, a position that Guillermo Herrera currently assumes in the government of Iván Duque.

According to journalist Alejandro Pino Calad, there is a stir over the names that are being used for that position. Among the candidates that are handled there are two former athletes and one of them has been a faithful opponent of the directors of Colombian soccer.

According to the information of the communicator, Carlos González Puche, current director of the Acolfutpro soccer players’ union, and María Isabel Urrutiawho is part of the current Ministry, are the two applicants who would be in the portfolio for this portfolio.

“For the Ministry of Sport there are two names that are taking advantage. They belong to the heart of the sports world and both have political experience. The first name is María Isabel Urrutia. Remember that María Isabel was already a representative to the Chamber, is part of the Ministry and is a trainer. There is another possibility that she has taken a lot of strength. So much so that yesterday, they came to the FCF with a rumor and told them: ´Ramón {Jesurún}, Álvaro {González Alzate}, What would they do if they appointed Carlos González Puche as Sports Minister?” said the journalist.

González Puche has been the main defender of the rights and welfare of Colombian soccer players, in fact, he has asked for a space for them in the decisions that are made in Colombian soccer. For several years he has had great differences with the Federation, Dimayor, clubs and leaders. His arrival at the Ministry of Sport could complicate the relationship between the sports leadership and the National Government.
