Paterna’s Nou Bàsquet dispenses with five players from the Senior team

The Paterna club Nou Bàsquet has decided to get rid of five 18-year-old players from the Senior C team and the coach, for “overstaffing”, as the father of one of them, Domingo Martínez, has pointed out. “This is the second year they do it and the problem is not the statement, but the forms. That they send a Whatsapp saying that there were no places, without any explanation, after 10 or 12 years as a whole, it is very sad, ”continues the relative of the affected.

It was last Tuesday, when amateur athletes received the message, since it is now, in the previous summer months when the management team begins to establish and prepare its staff for the following year. The former members express that, precisely that team that does not compete at a professional level, “It is composed so as not to have to throw anyone out”, which is why they have asked him for explanations about “the criteria adopted to choose who was leaving and who was not to the sports director.” The answer, according to Martínez, was “there is an excess of players. We are many to make a team, if there is any loss we will call you”.

So, the reasons they offer are based on the fact that “the members of the Junior have to go to the Senior, so there are too many players,” says the father. Therefore, the proposal of the young people before the response of the club has been to create a new group with the coach and those athletes who have been expelled. However, from the direction of this they affirm that “it is not possible, since there are not enough fields or facilities”.

“This is not the right attitude. for a club that had family quality, but with these situations now he is losing it ”, denounces the father of one of the players who decided to contact the federation. From this body, they declared that “they could not comment because they did not know the details, but that in any case the internal management belongs to each club,” explains Martínez.

The Nou Bàsquet has reprimanded us for spreading our complaints on social networks, when they used them to expel my son and the rest of the players”, exposes Domingo Martínez. “We just hope that they admit that they were wrong and can re-register them,” he added. “Young people are having a hard time. they are hurtThey are also in a bad time because they are preparing for the EBAU and now they have one more concern. They are not in the club to be professionals, all they want is to play”, assures the father of one of the players.

And it is that this it is the second year that passes, since one ago, they received the same message, but they let it pass, since the coach they have dispensed with now, mediated between them and the club. “Still, they told them that if they stayed it was to suck benches”, points out the family member. Now, they are waiting for the Department of Sports to contact them.
