Lucien Favre returns to OGC Nice in France. The Swiss had already looked after the Ligue 1 club from 2016 to 2018 and is now succeeding Christophe Galtier. Galtier is traded as a coach at Paris St. Germain.

Lucien Favre was the obvious candidate to succeed Adi Hütter at Borussia Mönchengladbach. But the idiosyncratic Swiss canceled. Now he has been spotted training with OGC Nice. But the old coach is not even officially gone.

AAlthough the return has not yet been officially completed, former Bundesliga coach Lucien Favre has already started working for the French first division club OGC Nice. According to a report in the sports newspaper “L’Equipe”, the Swiss was already in charge of training on Monday. The coach castling among the top French clubs has not yet been finalized.

The previous Nice coach Christophe Galtier is to switch to the French champions Paris St. Germain. In the case of the French industry leader, the capital, it is still about the modalities for the separation from the previous Argentine coach Mauricio Pochettino – and probably also about the transfer fee for Galtier.

Good memories

Favre had already coached Nice between 2016 and 2018 before going back to Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga. The French still have fond memories of their first year on the Cote d’Azur, when Favre led the team to third place. After the first half of the season, OGC even led the table.

A few weeks ago, Borussia Mönchengladbach tried to get the 64-year-old back. Favre finally canceled the Bundesliga club.
