A successor to John Anthony Brooks is to come. Looking for a central defender with a strong left foot. A man like David Carmo, defensive giant (1.96 meters) at Sporting Braga. However: With a first offer, which should be around 12.5 million euros, VfL Wolfsburg was rebuffed when they were fourth in the table last season. And is considered almost without a chance when courting the Portuguese.

Carmo has made just eleven league appearances for Sporting this season after a broken ankle put the defensive specialist out of action for a long time. Nevertheless, the 22-year-old is considered a man of the future. And accordingly has its price. In his contract, which runs until 2025, he has an exit clause of 40 million euros, which is probably negotiable. However: Braga is said to want around 25 million euros – that would clearly be too much for Wolfsburg’s possibilities.

Niakhaté is also on the list

But they definitely want to be active in defense after Brooks’ departure. With the Dutchman Micky an de Ven, the Lower Saxony still have a left central defender in their squad, but another is to come. Also on the list: Moussa Niakhaté from Mainz 05.
