Nikitin wins 34th place in the 50-meter freestyle swimming at the World Championships

The same result was shown by the 2012 Olympic champion in the 100-meter brass Meilutīte, who already has a bronze medal in this distance in Budapest.

82 athletes started.

Ģirts Feldbergs took a split 24th place in the back 50 meters, covering 25.62 seconds and 1.38 seconds behind US athlete Justin Resa, the owner of the best result.

The 16 fastest swimmers entered the semi-finals of the 49 athletes.

In the 4 × 100 meter freestyle mixed relay with Feldberg, Daniil Bobrov, Ieva Maluka and Nikitin, the Latvian national team took the 17th place, finishing after three minutes and 38.23 seconds.

The 27 quartets started, handing out medals to the eight fastest in the final.

Latvia is represented at the World Championship by four swimmers – Ieva Maluka, Gabriela Nikitina, Ģirts Feldbergs and Daniils Bobrovs.

Latvian athletes also started in 4 × 100 meters combined and 4 × 100 meters freestyle relays for mixed teams.

The World Water Sports Championship takes place from June 18 to July 3
