On the occasion of 100th Anniversary of the Negro National Leagues has the United States Mint issued this commemorative coin. The Negro National League is a professional baseball league formed in response to the ban on African American players in the major leagues. The motif shows a tour bus of the Negro Leagues in the foreground, in which the players stayed when they were denied access to hotels and restaurants. Behind the tour bus is a batsman who exemplifies a determination to play the game he loves, no matter the circumstances. The inscriptions “IN GOD WE TRUST”, “LIBERTY”, “2022” and “NEGRO LEAGUES BASEBALL” are also part of the design. The reverse features a group of five Negro Leagues baseball players and the inscriptions “E PLURIBUS UNUM”, “HALF DOLLAR” and “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA”.
