MLB – Baseball: Left hand thumb fracture for Bryce Harper

Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Bryce Harper fractured his left hand thumb after being hit by Blake Snell’s fast 97 mph in the fourth inning of a game against the San Diego Padres , Saturday.

The club clarified that no date has been established for the holding away of the holder of the title of most useful player of the National

Harper built up momentum before Snell’s pitch went up the slugger’s shoulder and hit hard on the outside of his left hand.

Harper immediately dropped and was visibly in pain as he held his hand between his knees for several minutes.

Halfway between home plate and the dugout, Haper started garlanding Snell and showing his hand to the Padres starter. Snell ended by retorting a few words to Harper.

Harper calmed down, however, and eventually replied « I know, I know » to Snell, conceding that he knew the pitcher hadn’t done it on purpose.

The game ended 4-2 in favor of the Phillies.
