Maxime Grousset in bronze on 50m freestyle

French swimmer Maxime Grousset won the bronze medal in the 50m freestyle at the Budapest World Championships on Friday.

Maxime Grousset won the bronze medal in the 50m freestyle at the World Championships behind Briton Benjamin Proud (gold) and American Michael Andrew (silver) on Friday in Budapest.

Grousset won his second Worlds medal after silver in the 100m freestyle on Wednesday and the eighth for the French team in these Worlds. With his time of 21 sec and 57/100, he arrives behind Benjamin Proud (21.32) and Michael Andrew (21.41).

Maxime Grousset had managed to qualify in extremis for the final over the distance after a jump-off won against the Brazilian Bruno Fratus on Thursday. For his part, Benjamin Proud won the first gold medal for Great Britain during these Worlds in Hungary.
