Luis González is named MLB Rookie of the Month

Sonoran Luis Gonzalez was recognized by Major League Baseball as Rookie of the Month for May, after his great work as a baseball player with the San Francisco Giants.


In his first season in the Major Leagues, the Mexican has had fabulous interventions at batting time, especially in May, which began with a six-game hitting streak. In the record he left the mark of 28 hits, 1 home run, 7 doubles, 13 runs batted in, 8 runs scored and a batting average of .368 in 23 games played.

Throughout the season, he has hit .324, adding 2 home runs and 19 RBIs. Notably, San Francisco has used him all over the outfield since he debuted on April 22.

The native of Hermosillo, Sonora also debuted as a pitcher in the same month, throwing a total of 4.1 innings, in which he allowed three runs and granted a walk; highlighting that during the first 3.1 innings he did not allow annotations.

The 26-year-old outfielder is considered one of the most valuable elements in the Giants’ lineup, and is also an important piece to alternate in the bullpen when required.
