Ligue 1: Zidanes Ex-Club Girondins Bordeaux penalized in 3rd league – FUSSBALL INTERNATIONAL

Bitter decline of a traditional club! Ligue-1-relegated Bordeaux Girondins should be transferred to the French third division (National 1) for financial reasons. This was announced by the control commission for French loungers on Tuesday evening.

The decision was preceded by a re-examination of the club’s situation with a view to the coming season. The broadcaster “RMC” reported estimates that Girondins owed around 40 million euros.

According to French media reports, the club can – and will – take action against the decision within a week. In the evening, Girondins announced in a statement that he would appeal against what he saw as a “brutal decision”.

Girondins Bordeaux used to be a big name in France. The club had its best days in the 1980s, when they won three of their six league titles.
