LA Clippers Intuit Dome Receives Halo Scoreboard

The halo board in the LA Clippers Intuit Dome will be the largest double-sided halo scoreboard ever installed in an arena, according to Daktronics. Daktronics is currently expanding its production capacities at several locations to serve the growing demand for LED displays. These include doubling the company’s capacity to supply surface mount device (SMD) LED product lines and adding 9,000 square feet of manufacturing space at the Brookings facility. The Halo board in the Intuit Dome will be one of the first projects to use Brookings’ new assembly line.

The LA Clippers’ double-sided halo display will feature approximately 40,000 square feet of digital canvas — that’s more than 3,592 60-inch TVs and more than 233 million LEDs. Clippers designed and engineered the Intuit Dome roof specifically for the unique Halo board to optimize sight lines from all seats and to enhance the viewing experience from the seats at the top of the stadium. The inner halo display will be 9.7 meters high and 192 meters in circumference. The outer halo display will be 8.5 meters high and 201.4 meters in circumference, making the entire halo more proportionally balanced than others. The entire halo will be in 4K and will feature a tight 3.9mm pixel array.

Additional screens inside and outside the Intuit Dome will engage spectators as soon as they arrive and until they are seated for the game. Additional displays will be placed in the lobby and a seven meter high and 58 meter wide screen will overlook the outdoor basketball court in the plaza. Perimeter displays will be installed along the seat covers and at the entrances to the seat pans, goal scorer scoreboards and pitchside basket supports will also add to the game experience while providing the opportunity to showcase sponsors during events. Daktronics has also previously built and installed a mini halo board at the Clippers Intuit Dome Experience Center.
