Kokrak – Disqualified for leaving the course without finishing a hole

Jason Kokrak starred in a peculiar episode during the second day of the Travelers tournament, on the PGA Tour. american golfer he was disqualified once he did not finish the last hole he played. From the 9th tee (he had started the day from the 10th and therefore would finish the course on the 9th), he left the ball 38 meters from the flag.

Without being a complicated blow, Kokrak, who I already knew I wasn’t going to make the tournament cut, so I hit the ball off the green, toward the spectators, and it ended up out of bounds. The American, a three-time winner of a PGA Tour tournament, decided not to continue playing. I gave up dropping. He left the field. He got in the car and disappeared.

Until that moment, he was par for the course but with the last hole to go. On the first day I finished with 67 hits. In the second, he was already at 70 (three bogeys, two double bogeys and two birdies) before playing the 9th hole. With the cutoff at -2, I already knew that I would not be in the final two days.

The PGA Tour announces its disqualification “for failing to record a score on his last hole and subsequently failing to return the score card.” There are those who took advantage of this incident to link it to the rumors that put Kokrak on course for LIV Golf. But immediately another explanation was given for this event: did not want to delay the group of players who came from behind and, since he was going to miss the cut anyway, he didn’t want to waste time searching for the ball and dropping it.

The American Xander Schauffele with a card of 63 strokes, seven under par, as he had already done in the opening round, is the leader of the Travelers with -14 and five shots ahead of his first pursuers, the Americans Patrick Cantlay, Harris English, Nick Hardy and Kevin Kisner and by the Australian Cameron Davis.
