Four-time NBA All-Star Game member Kemba Walker was traded during Thursday’s Draft by the New York Knicks to the Detroit Pistons, according to the prestigious Twitter account @TheAthletic.
The 31-year-old point guard had his worst course in the NBA, as he averaged 11.6 points and 3.6 assists per game in 2021-2022 for 25.6 minutes on average, his lowest in the basketball elite.
Thanks to this move, the Knicks get rid of Walker’s contract, who still has to earn $35 million in the 2022-2023 season after agreeing with the Charlotte Hornets for four years and more than $140 million in the summer of 2019.
Although his career has been in steep decline, the veteran point guard still has a good average of 19.5 points in 11 seasons, with 5.3 assists, defending the colors of Charlotte, Boston Celtics and the Knicks themselves.
Likewise, it is unlikely that Kemba Walker will make his debut with the Pistons, since they seem to have the pilot position well covered, with the choice of Jaden Ivey in fifth place in the 2022 NBA Draft and the presence of Cade Cunningham, first selection of the lottery itself in 2021.
