Minister of the Interior Gerhard Karner (ÖVP) has taken over the executive function in the Austrian Olympic Committee from Chancellor Karl Nehammer (ÖVP). The ÖOC announced this on Monday after the ordinary general meeting in Vienna.
Karner was previously accepted as a co-opted member. ÖOC board member Peter Kleinmann also received the Laurel Award from the Association of European Olympic Committees (EOC) for special merits Sport presented.
In addition to the recognition of a successful Olympic performance record at the Olympic Games in Tokyo and Beijing, the representatives of summer sports were elected to the ÖOC Athletes’ Commission. This now includes Magdalena Lobnig (rowing), Bettina Plank (karate), Magdalena Krssakova (judo) and Felix Auböck (swimming).
