Judo and karate seek more prominence; softball, after remaining undefeated

VALLEDUPAR, Colombia. Boxers Alexy de la Cruz and Rodrigo Marte de la Rosa will jump into the ring in their respective divisions with the aim of advancing to the boxing final of the Bolivarian Games.

Karate and judo remain in the running for more medals on Monday, while softball will seek its third victory.

Bowling, in the team events, will conclude its performance, while rugby will make its debut in this event.

BOXING

Starting at 6:00 in the afternoon at Parque de La Leyenda, Miguelina Hernández will fight against Lucy Valdivia Bravo, from Peru, in her tournament debut, in the women’s 45-51 kilos category.

Estefani Almánzar, in featherweight (54-57 kilos) will face Leilany Reyes Moreno, from Guatemala.

Rodrigo Marte de la Rosa, in his second fight, will face the Colombian Yilmar Leandro González, in search of the pass to the featherweight final (52-57 kilos), as will Alexy de la Cruz, who will face José Manuel Viafara, from Colombia, in the 57-63 kilos category.

JUDO

At the Colegio Bilingüe Coliseum, from 10:00 in the morning (11:00 am RD time) four judokas will be in the eliminatory round for the medal discussion. Moira Morillo, in more than 78 kilos, will face Amarantha Urdaneta, from Venezuela; Brigitte Carabali, from Colombia, as well as Yuliana Bolívar González, from Peru, and the Chilean Catalina Ascencio Díaz.

In minus 78 kilos, Omaria Ramírez Piña plans to face Brenda Olaya Córdoba, from Colombia; Camila Figueroa Aquino, from Peru, and Karen León Estévez, from Venezuela.

In less than 90 kilos, Derick Burgos Rosso will fight against Daniel Paz Albarracin, from Colombia, while, in more than 100 kilos, José Nova will face Luis Amezquita Urquiola, from Venezuela; William Meléndez Salas, from Colombia, and Freddy Figueroa Ortiz, from Ecuador.

FENCING

From 11:00 in the morning (12:00 noon RD time), the fencers Heyddys Valentín, Elsa Mateo, Maiber de la Cruz and Melody Martínez will be in action in the women’s saber team event at the Club Campestre Gran Salón.

KARATE

From 10:30 in the morning at the Comfacesar Rodolfo Campo Soto Coliseum, the karate team tests will be held at the closing of the tournament in the Bolivarian Games.

FEMALE 3X3 BASKETBALL

The Dominican representation, made up of Cinthia Núñez, Nayeli Morillo, Lency Almonte and Yerica Rosario, will play against the Ecuadorian team from 2:00 p.m. (3:00 p.m. RD time), and at 3:30 p.m. (4:00 p.m. 30 pm RD time) will be measured against Venezuela, on the field of Parque Deportivo Garupal.

WOMEN’S SOFTBALL

The Dominican team will go in search of its third victory when facing its counterpart from Guatemala, starting at 4:30 in the afternoon (5:30 pm RD time) at the Unidad Deportiva Central Softball Stadium.

BADMINTON

At the Arena de la Sal Coliseum, in Cundinamarca, from 9:00 in the morning (10:00 am RD time) the singles competitions begin where Alissa Acosta will play against María Pérez Tangarife, from Colombia; Clarissa Pie against Inés Castillo Salazar, from Peru, and in men’s, Erick Zorrilla will face William Barrios Aporte, from Bolivia.

WOMEN’S HANDBALL

The Quisqueyan women’s handball team is scheduled for 2:00 in the afternoon (3:00 pm RD time) to play against the representation of Peru in the Chía Acoustic Shell, in Cundinamarca.

BOWLING

From 7:30 in the morning (8:30 am RD time) the competitions for women’s and men’s teams of the bowling tournament will begin, which enters its last day at the Bowling Megamall Park.

MEN’S FOOTBALL

The Quisqueyan national team will play against the representation of El Salvador from 5:00 in the afternoon (6:00 pm RD time) at the La Feria Coliseum.

REMO

Francisco Nova, Jancarlos Tineo, Julio Belén and Roderlin Rosario will compete, starting at 10:30 in the morning (11:30 am RD time) in the Four Pairs of Short Oars (M4X) modality in the Ciénaga de Zapatosa, Cundinamarca.

RUGBY 7

The men’s team will make its debut in its first participation in this type of event by facing Venezuela from 12:28 pm (1:28 pm RD time) at the Villa Olímpica Codazzi Sports Complex.
