Jonathan Sacoor after BK comeback: “I have put individual World Cup participation out of my mind” | Championship Athletics

Afterwards, the Belgian Tornado said that he is targeting the European Championship in August, and not the World Cup in July.

“It is gradually getting better after my corona infection,” said Sacoor. “The problem is that you actually have to be 120 percent healthy to survive the last straight line of a 400 meters. The doctor told me that there is no point in forcing. I have to give my body time to recover.”

“That is why I am focusing on the European Championships in Munich in August. I have put an individual participation in the World Cup in Eugene out of my mind, but if the Tornadoes need me, I am available for the 4×400 meters.”

Kevin Borlée On Friday he clocked the fastest time of the suit with 46″09, but he didn’t feel good about it. “My body is completely blocked by a problem in my back”, he said. “Actually, it is not medically wise to participate in this BK, but because of that stupid World Ranking I can not do otherwise. I need the points.”

also brother Jonathan Borlee ran 46″94 and felt even less happy than his twin brother. “I felt really bad,” said the national record holder.

“Yesterday I was sick and I did not eat anything. After 200 meters I already felt that it would be nothing. I will not run the final on Saturday. That was decided before I became ill. The risk of injuring me is too great , because I’ve only been training seriously for two weeks.”

Anyone who walked around Gentbrugge with a good feeling was title defender Alexander Doom, who clocked 46″14. “I was able to relax in the last straight line,” said our compatriot. “I am looking forward to defending my title on Saturday and I can also use the points for the World Ranking. Individual World Cup participation is not an obsession for me, but it would be nice.”
