In Pontivy, the Réveil laïque pontivyen badminton now has two presidents – Pontivy



President of the Réveil laïque pontivyen badminton for seven years, Nicolas Garnier has just announced his wish to take a step back. Wesley Janvier therefore joins him in a co-chairmanship. “This year, the club has 86 members, compared to 72 last year. We are still recording an increase in the workforce among young people under 18 as well as a significant feminization in our ranks,” says Nicolas Garnier.

He looks back on his career at the head of the club. “In seven years, we have gone from 50 to 86 members, we have created a national tournament that continues to grow, going from 80 players during the first edition, to 310 this year”, indicates the president, before thanking all those who accompanied him in the realization of the projects.

Wesley Janvier’s beginnings as president

Wesley Janvier begins as Nicolas Garnier. He took over as head of the Réveil laïque pontivyen badminton at the age of 27 and after a year with the club. “Nicolas will accompany me this season and wants to leave me alone at the helm next year,” explains the new manager.

The club’s sporting year has been prosperous. A podium for Cédric Borromé in the Morbihan championship, another for Sébastien Le Clainche in Brittany. The mixed D2 team finished 3rd in the Morbihan cup. Mixed team 2 goes up to D3 and mixed team 3 goes up to D4.

The national tournament in February 2023

Lionel Maho will coach the youngsters next season and Patrice Le Marec returns for the seniors. The national tournament is set for February 4 and 5 and 2023. A youth regional tournament will be organized on September 24 and 25.
