Girona was the sixth of the regular competition to advance to the promotion play-offs. In the first round, coach Michel’s team passed Eibar, who finished third in the competition.
Eibar was 1 point behind the top two, Almeria and Real Valladolid, who received a direct ticket for the Primera Division.
Striking: Girona also made the difference against Eibar in the return (0-1 loss at home, 0-2 win out).
Tenerife, the number 5, had knocked out Las Palmas, the number 4 in the semi-finals of the play-offs.
Granada, Levante and Alaves were relegated from La Liga.
