Favorable draw Tim van Rijthoven at Wimbledon | Tennis

Delbonis is mainly a specialist on clay. The South American is the number 85 in the world and has never won a match at Wimbledon. Van Rijthoven is twenty places lower. The 25-year-old Dutchman recently won the ATP tournament in Rosmalen and is therefore welcome to the third grand slam tournament of the season with a wild card.

Greek track

Tallon Greek track will take on the capricious Italian Fabio Fognini in the opening round. The Spanish prodigy Carlos Alcaraz (19) may be waiting for a victory. Alcaraz starts Wimbledon against Jan-Lennard Struff from Germany.

From the Sand Scallop

Botic van de Zandschulp, placed 21st, meets Feliciano Lopez. The now 40-year-old Spaniard has been on the holy grass three times in the past, but lately he hardly wins any matches. Last week in Mallorca he went down immediately against Greek track.

In the absence of the current number 1 in the world, the Russian Daniil Medvedev, defending champion Novak Djokovic is placed first. The Serb will face 24-year-old South Korean Soon-woo Kwon in the first round.

The Spaniard Rafael Nadal, 22-time grand slam champion, will meet the Argentinian Francisco Cerúndolo in the first round.

Rus

Among the women, Arantxa Rus is the only Dutch participant. She meets Catherine Harrison in her opening round. The American is the number 264 in the world, and made it through the qualifications to the main tournament. Russian (31) is in 86th place in the global ranking and is therefore directly admitted.

Swiatek

World No. 1 Iga Swiatek will face Croatian qualifier Jana Fett in the opening round. The Polish won Roland Garros a few weeks ago. Serena Williams will take on Harmony Tan from France on her return in singles. The 40-year-old American participates with a wild card in the grand slam tournament that she won seven times. Williams made her return in doubles this week on the grass in Eastbourne after a one-year absence.

Because the Russians and Belarusians are not allowed to participate at Wimbledon, the ATP and WTA have decided that there will be no points competition in London this year.

Wimbledon starts on Monday.

Blessure Halep

Simona Halep suffered an injury shortly before Wimbledon. The former number 1 in the world withdrew due to neck complaints for the duel with Bianca Andreescu in the semifinals of the WTA tournament in Bad Homburg. However, the 30-year-old Romanian, placed fourth, was not fit enough on Friday to play against Andreescu.

In the draw for Wimbledon, Halep was matched in the first round to Karolina Muchová from the Czech Republic. The Romanian won the grand slam tournament on English grass in 2019. A year earlier, she triumphed at Roland Garros.
