Ex-ÖFB team boss to Zurich?: Franco Foda before switching to the Swiss champions

“There were already a few interesting offers, but ultimately the whole package has to fit so that I decide on a team,” Franco Foda told the Kleine Zeitung recently when he was asked if he was ready for a new job.

Some national teams and clubs are said to have already asked to sign the German, who worked as team boss of the Austrian national football team from November 2017 to March 2022.

The latest trail leads to Switzerland. The 56-year-old is said to have been spotted in Zurich today. And there, of all places, a coach will be introduced at 4 p.m. – namely that of FC Zurich. The people of Zurich are the current champions in Switzerland and won the title with a 14-point lead over FC Basel. However, coach Andre Breitenreiter switched to German Bundesliga club Hoffenheim this summer. Incidentally, Zurich will start in the second round of the Champions League qualification in the new season.

Foda could return to Switzerland after 25 years, having already played for FC Basel as a player in the spring of 1997 – six months before his time at SK Sturm began and before Graz became his second home.
