Elite athletes will participate on Friday in the Women’s Universe Tour forum, which is held in Zamora

Olympic athletes such as handball player Paula Arcos and the president of the International Triathlon Federation, Marisol Casado, as well as international figures such as canoeist Laura Pedruelo and judo judge Teresa Esteban, moderated by Olympic figure skater Sara Hurtado, will participate next Friday, June 17, at the Women’s Universe Tour forum, held in Zamora.

The forum, in which the progress and challenges of women in the world of sport will be discussed, marks the beginning of a weekend in which Zamora will become the capital of women’s sport with the Women’s Universe Tour, promoted by Iberdrola.

The event, which will be held at 10:30 a.m. at the Rey Don Sancho 2 La Marina Restaurant, will also include the participation of the Deputy Director General of the Women and Sports programs of the Higher Sports Council, Bárbara Fuertes, who will provide the point of view of public management.

The Forum will be led by the Olympic figure skater Sara Hurtado, who just a few weeks ago announced that she is abandoning the practice of elite sports to dedicate herself to other activities. In addition to moderating the event, she can also offer a very real point of view of the role of women in society and the world of sport because she has practiced a minority sport and has proven experience both in the world of the Olympic Games, in this case of winter, as well as in international tournaments.

The central square of La Marina will host the 18th edition of the Women’s Universe Tour, a tour promoted by Iberdrola within the framework of the Women’s Universe program, endorsed by the Higher Sports Council and the Young Sports Foundation, to promote the development of women’s sports as “ a fundamental pillar in recognizing the role of women in society and disseminating the successes achieved by our athletes”, according to sources from the organization.

For two days, an open-air multi-sports complex covering some 3,000 square meters will be set up, offering a sports and information space on the 32 federations promoted by Iberdrola. Visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy practices, contests and exhibitions alongside local athletes and national champions.

In addition, the event, which is designed for the enjoyment of all types of public, will have a large stage where a fitness marathon and group classes will be held, and on Sunday, June 19, the race-walk ‘Zamora, in shape for equality’ in which up to 2,000 people can participate, with a price of 5.40 euros per registration, and whose proceeds will be donated in full to the SanaguaAspace Association.
