There are several sports fanatics who happen to be celebrities, including rapper and hip-hop producer DJ Khaled. To celebrate his commitment to the sport, the cognac brand Hennessy gave him a special bottle. It was presented to him on the occasion of the league’s 75th anniversary.
Hennessy is gifting DJ Khaled a special edition in honor of the music mogul’s love of the game
As the 2022 NBA Finals begins between the Golden State Warriors and the Boston Celtics, NBA fans like the “We The Best” producer can’t contain their excitement. To build the energy around this highly anticipated battle, Hennessy is celebrating the 75th anniversary of the popular game by crafting a special Masterpiece carafe. Of course, Khaled is the recipient.
Although Khaled is a longtime fan of the Miami Heat and they fell short this year and didn’t make it to the finals, the “Higher” producer can at least start his summer by relaxing and sipping a cognac with his latest luxury glass. Hennessy went out of his way to curate the special edition for the Grammy winner.
The item is shaped like a 1.5 liter Baccarat crystal basketball and features real gold inlays thrown onto the seam contours. In addition, the hardware sits on top of the cover. It also comes in a co-branded wooden box along with two glasses that also mimic the basketball aesthetic.
DJ Khaled is also an avid Hennessey drinker
The special edition certainly won’t last long in Khaled’s household, but he’ll likely keep the bottle and glassware for decoration. Khaled is a longtime lover of the brand, often references the drink in his music, shares photos of him drinking it and has dedicated a special song to him.
In his single entitled “Weed & Hennessey” with Mavado, the collaborators brag about their love of smoking and drinking. They rap: “Weed and Hennessy / And a little bit a grabba leaf / Full suit a Louie V / Bare gyal inna the vehic’s / That mi waan fi di Sumaiya.”
The DJ’s antics at NBA games have gone viral
Like many others, Khaled is a basketball fanatic. He usually sits on the sidelines during games and can’t contain himself, making for some meme-worthy moments. This year alone, he made an appearance at the 2022 NBA All-Star Games. But his recent airball shots at a Heat vs. Hawks game in April 2022 caused him to be kicked off the field.
He snuck onto the court at FTX Arena in Miami — where the Heat defeated the Hawks 115-91 in Game 1 of their NBA playoff series. On the court, he shot an airball with a 3-pointer. The fans in attendance berated Khaled with boos. He was escorted by security forces back to his seat at the courthouse.
His viral airball was a reminder of another airball he started just two months earlier in February while attending All-Star Weekend in Cleveland. “Never give up, it doesn’t matter,” he said after shooting a 3 out of the air at Rocket Mortgage Center, the New York Post reports.
