The midfielder, who at Juventus has also worked both as a right-back and as a winger, He is the Colombian player with the most matches in Serie A and he has also become one of the players with the most titles throughout the history of the Turin team, of which he has already been captain and with which he will begin the eighth season after renewing his contract for another year.

The 34-year-old man from Antioquia spoke exclusively with Diario AS Colombia taking advantage of his presence at one of the live launch events, a brand of which he is an ambassador. The player assured that after so many years, his passion for football is what still keeps him going in one of the best teams in the world as well as affirming that he never thought that his process at Juve, which began in 2015, would be so successful, leaving a balance so far of 267 games played, 24 goals scored, 58 assists made and 11 titles won.

“Discipline has kept me current. The most difficult thing is to stay and that’s when you dream of going higher, having more discipline and perseverance, you have to set goals to stay. I love football, I am passionate about it and I always try to give 100% in every training session and every game. I always want to compete, I like to be a starter and I do everything for that. It is that passion that I still have inside me that keeps it going”, Said the footballer.

I never imagined that I would have such a successful process, being a benchmark for Juventus and being a captain is a source of pride, but it is also being able to continue with your feet on the ground and your eyes on the sky, as my little panita Yerry (Mina) says. The higher God takes you, the more you have to keep your feet on the ground,” added the footballer.

The season that ended in which Cuadrado scored 5 goals and provided 6 assists in 45 gamesIt was the Colombian’s first without winning a title with Juventus and the second without achieving Serie A. The steering wheel stated that what was achieved in previous years cannot be erased and that now they have the possibility of fighting to be champions as well as appearing in the Champions League.

“People forget very quickly because winning nine championships in a row is something epic and difficult. We have had 2 years in which we have not won the Serie A, but we have won the Cup and the Super Cup. Now we have the chance to fight again for all the championships and whatever comes ahead. We are also going to have the opportunity to fight for the Champions League, which is something that counts a lot”, he commented.

Juan Guillermo Cuadrado has 331 games in Serie A with the shirts of Udinese, Lecce, Fiorentina and Juventus. The player assured that at the beginning it was not easy, however, the importance of the process has allowed him and other players to shine in Italian football as have Duván Zapata, Luis Fernando Muriel and David Ospina, among others.

“I am happy to be the Colombian with the most matches, but it was not easy to achieve it. When I first arrived, I wasn’t playing for Udinese and I was in the stands, but I always had the mentality that I could make it. Perseverance and hard work and sacrifice that one makes to achieve goals is important. Serie A is very competitive and there are Colombian players who have the talent and adapt well, but the process and patience are needed to be able to do it well”, he concluded.
