Cristiano Ronaldo takes Portugal by the hand against Switzerland | Football

The big question on Sunday evening was whether Ronaldo would now start in the base. Last Thursday, the Portuguese started on the bench against the Spaniards. The star player came within the lines after more than an hour. He was ‘just’ at the kick-off against the Swiss.

After just five minutes, Switzerland already thought it would take the lead via Haris Seferovic, but the VAR noted hands and intervened. Ten minutes later Portugal scored a valid goal. Swiss goalkeeper Gregor Kobel was unable to control a deflected free kick by Ronaldo, the rebound fell to William Carvalho: 1-0.

The second and third Portuguese goals also fell before the break. After not scoring five games in a row in the shirt of Portugal, Ronaldo put an end to that on Sunday evening. The 37-year-old footballer hit hard: 2-0. Barely four minutes later, Ronaldo scored again and he again signed for goal number 117 (!) in the service of his country. It caused a lot of emotions with his mother in the stands.

After the break, the Portuguese took it easy. João Cancelo still signed for the 4-0 twenty minutes before time.
