With an express development of the practice in the Roannais, the Badminton Club of Roanne aims to become even bigger in the next few years.
It is in the heart of the Fontalon Gymnasium, in Roanne, that the CBR offers many slots to its licensees, who this year number more than 220. “It’s a record season for our club in terms of licences. There is a real enthusiasm that has been created around badminton on our territory” explains Kévin Forestier, employee of the club. The structure, which wants to be ambitious, friendly and accessible, works daily for its development. This is already going through the first team, which will join the pre-national level next season. “It’s a rise that we wanted, just like the one in National 3 thereafter, in the medium term, which should bring the Club Badminton de Roanne into a new dimension”.
Best club in the Loire
Playing at national level will change a lot of things in the association. This high-level culture, gradually inculcated in the structure, will make it possible to make CBR even better known. In an already busy Roannais sports landscape, each progression must be put forward in order to exist. Currently, the club is one of the best in the Loire department and could even be number 1 in the event of a rise to national level. A senior team that performs in the same way as the young Nina Houl, who represents the Club Badminton de Roanne during the European and international competitions in which she participates.
Open up to local life
This set of good results gives ideas to the office and to Kévin Forestier, the only employee of the club, to take the project even higher. “We want to create a sporting dynamic, that’s clear. But also continue to offer suitable slots for our members all week.” With such a number of licensees, the CBR can see the future serenely. The badminton school, which concerns about 70 children, is one of the major areas of development, as is its openness to local life. “We are present on the actions carried out by the municipality and I think that we can do even more to introduce badminton to the people of Roanne” concludes Kévin Forestier.
