Carolina Marín will return next week at the Indonesia Open

Carolina Marín will return to competition next week, as announced on its social networks, in the Open in Indonesia. The champion from Huelva will thus start the Asian tour with the aim of arriving in the best possible shape at the Tokyo World Cup which will take place at the end of August. Thus, Marín will not participate this week in the Indonesian Masterssince he has prioritized continuing with his preparation.

Marín accumulates little competition rhythm in this 2022. He reappeared in a big way in the Madrid European Championship at the end of April, in which the gold for the sixth time in a row in what was his return after the serious knee injury that left him without the Tokyo Olympics. Carolina tore the anterior cruciate ligament and the two menisci in her left knee in training prior to the Olympics.

After that sensational staging in the continental event, Marín has not had a competitive rhythm. Since then, he only played, also with victory, a game of the Thomas & Uber Cup in mid-May. Now, however, it seems that Carolina is going to seek to take that step further in her return to the elite.

Marin was scheduled to compete this week at the Indonesia Masters, a category 500 event with which he was going to start the Asian tour. However, it was Carolina herself who confirmed that his comeback is postponed until next week at the Indonesian Open, also in Jakarta but one of the ‘majors’ on the circuit. Thus, Marín will return in the second of the three ‘Super 1000’ of the season, after the All England that took place in March.

Champion of the All England in 2015 and the China Open in 2018 and 2019, the Indonesian Open is the only one of the three major regular tournaments on the circuit that does not appear in the list of winners of Marín, who also won the two alternative tournaments in this category played in Thailand in 2020 as a resource against the pandemic. Carolina counts as the best result in this tournament with the semifinals of 2016. Now, however, the main objective for her will be to regain competition rhythm.
