Offensively, the Blue Jays got the ball rolling with five RBIs in the second inning. Matt Chapman notably pushed three of his associates to the plate with a double. Later in the clash, Cavan Biggio and Alejandro Kirk stretched their arms. It was their second and ninth home runs of the campaign, respectively.

Blue Jays coach suspended

Earlier in the day, Blue Jays batting coach Guillermo Martinez was suspended for five games by Major League Baseball.

The 37-year-old received the penalty for an action he made ahead of Wednesday’s game against the White Sox in Chicago. When handing over his club’s roster to officials, Martinez gave his thoughts to the referee and was ejected from the game before the game even started.

The Jays coach expressed his frustration over the game the day before, where referee Doug Eddings made multiple bad decisions.

The major leaguers ruled that Martinez made “contact” with the official and engaged in “unsportsmanlike conduct.” The coach was also fined, the amount of which was not disclosed.
