Bayern to start Bundesliga season against Frankfurt

FRANKFURT, Germany (AP) — Bayern Munich will begin their bid for an 11th straight Bundesliga title with a potentially tough game away to Europa League winner Eintracht Frankfurt.

Frankfurt have won two of their last three meetings with Bayern before their meeting on August 5, which will kick off the Bundesliga’s 60th anniversary season.

The league’s 2022-23 calendar, published on Friday, has Borussia Dortmund, second-place from last season, opening against Bayer Leverkusen on August 6 or 7. Of the promoted teams, Schalke visits Cologne and Werder Bremen starts in Wolfsburg.

There will be more than two months without matches in the middle of the season due to the World Cup in Qatar. Instead, the Bundesliga will begin its winter break on November 13 and return on January 20.
