Banjaja wins Dutch Grand Prix; Quartararo quits the fall

Italian Francesco Banjaja won the most prestigious MotoGP class in the 11th round of the World Motorcycle Championship season on Sunday.

Banjaja, who represents the Ducati Lenovo unit, was also the fastest on Saturday’s qualifying races and started convincingly on Sunday, quickly gaining a small lead.

Fabio Quartararo (“Monster Energy Yamaha”) was in the top three at the start of the race, but experienced a fall after which he returned to the track. However, he fell again and after that fall left the track limping.

The second place was won by the Italian Marko Bedzeki from the “Mooney VR46” team, and the third place was won by Maverik Vinjaless (“Aprilia”).

The leader with 172 points in the overall World Cup standings is Quartararo, 151 points are scored by Spaniard Aliès Espargaro (114), 114 by João Zarko (“Pramac”), who is eight points ahead of Italy’s Eneu Bastianini (“Gresini”).

There are 20 stages in the calendar this season and the next one will take place in August in the UK.
